Wyoming Association of Rural Water Systems

Wyoming Rural Water's mission is "To provide the assistance necessary to meet the needs of our membership and to ensure the protection of Wyoming's water - our most precious resource. By providing on-site, one-on-one technical assistance and training we can help community elected officials and operators with their commitment and their profession of providing "Quality on Tap!"

Core Services

  • On-site, one-on-one technical assistance & support for rural water and wastewater systems — including staffing by circuit riders who travel the state to help public water systems with operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance, etc.
  • Training and certification/continuing education courses for water and wastewater operators, as well as governance/management training for system managers and community officials — to help meet licensure and regulatory compliance (e.g. under the Safe Drinking Water Act)
  • Information dissemination and regulatory guidance, helping systems understand current standards, regulatory changes (e.g. water quality regulations), and compliance obligations, especially when state or federal resources are limited.
  • Support for financial and governance aspects of small and rural water/wastewater systems — assisting elected officials and system managers with budgeting, governance, and administrative issues.
  • Facilitation of member services, coordination and advocacy via being a member-driven nonprofit association (affiliated with National Rural Water Association) to represent and support nearly all small and rural water/wastewater providers across Wyoming.
